Emirates announces 'limited' flights in May

The only-way special flights are only for residents and visitors wishing to return home to a number of countries

Dubai’s Emirates Airline plans to operate limited repatriation flights to a number of locations throughout May, the airline has announced.

In a statement, Emirates said it plans to operate flights to Frankfurt (May 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13), London Heathrow (May 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14) and Manila (May 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15 and 16).

Additionally, the airline will operate flights to Sao Paulo on May 3 and Shanghai on May 2.

The only-way special flights are only for residents and visitors wishing to return home. Only citizens of the destination countries and those who meet the entry requirements for the destination will be permitted on board.

Customers hoping to travel to Shanghai must contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in the UAE. All other passengers can book through Emirates’ website or via a travel agent.

Emirates has taken a number of safety steps for flights amid the Covid-19 pandemic, such as serving hygienic prepacked meals and taking steps to enforce social distancing on the flight.

Passengers are not allowed to check cabin baggage. Carry-on items in the cabin are limited to laptop, handbag, briefcase or baby items. They must also wear masks at the airport and on board.
