Plane food hasn’t always had the best reputation, but British Airways is changing all that. Introducing “Best of British Menus”, the airline will be welcoming back passengers next month with some classic meals.
A traditional roast with 21-day aged British beef, served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables, horseradish cream and gravy will be on the menu.
And from October, roast dinners will also come with chicken.
The menus will feature lamb hot pot and Welsh rarebit with chutney, making sure travellers really do get the best of British.
However, not every BA passenger will get to try the roast dinners.

To get the British Roast Dinner, flyers will need to be in First Class or Club World.
Passengers in First get their own private suite on the plane.
They even have a fully flat bed with mattress and duvet.
Club World passengers also get a bed, but it’s their seats that converts.
They will also get to try the roast dinners.
A return flight to New York in First starts at over £4,000, and they can go up from there.
The Express found a return flight at over £14,000.
For that amount of money, passengers won’t just be getting a roast dinner, but also themed desserts.
Celebrating the British apple season, apple mousse with granny smith sorbet and British apple compote with vanilla custard and crumble are also part of the menu.
Advocating farm to fork, BA has worked with British farmers, caterers and producers to ensure the best quality ingredients.
While the roast dinners sound delicious, most passengers won’t get a chance to try it.
However, some signature British dishes will be available across all cabins.
Travellers jetting off to the other side of the world will be offered the menus, which will change monthly and will celebrate the best of the British Isles.
A representant for the airline, Sajida Ismail, head of inflight for British Airways, said that the airline “wanted to mark the occasion by offering a really special menu that celebrates the best of Britain.”
For a classic roast dinner, Britons will have to be in First or Club.
For some of the other dishes, any seat will do.
