Charlie Mullins spoke on Good Morning Britain today about the coronavirus vaccine. He claimed Britons should be able to “get back to normal life”.
The Pimlico Plumbers founder called for the Government to allow those who have been vaccinated to be given more freedom.
He suggested this could be done by using the passport system, where people are able to prove they have been vaccinated.
Charlie claimed: “In the US people who have had the vaccination are getting back to normal life.
“I think if we had the passport system where we have proof of having the vaccination then I think we could get back to normal life.
“I think this is just a cover up by the Government who have messed up the passport system or the proof that you’ve had it.
“It is just making it complicated.
“It’s confusing from the Government, it’s unacceptable from the Government, it’s misleading by them.”
In the UK, nearly 23 million people have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Charlie continued to say this should allow some to get back to normal life.
“So many people have had it now, there’s four million people going to be having it in the next week or so,” he continued.
“What is the point of having it if we can’t get back to a normal life?”
The businessman suggested using the vaccination passport system.
This system could potentially give more freedoms to those who have been fully vaccinated and they could prove this using their vaccine.
A vaccine passport may allow them to do more in the UK such as attend big events including concerts, nightclubs and sporting games.
It could also be used to allow more freedom while travelling.
Currently there is only a small number of “green” list countries those in England are legally allowed to travel to.
These include Portugal, Gibraltar, New Zealand, Australia and Iceland.
Britons must all follow Government travel restrictions regardless of how far they are in the vaccination process.
When the Government set out its travel traffic light system, it explained restrictions would be reviewed every few weeks.
This means more countries could be added to the “green” list allowing more travel.
The next review is expected to take place at the beginning of June.
