A bargain hunter searching for holiday deals says she's uncovered a Google 'cheat code' that budget travellers have been 'gatekeeping' to get cheap flights.
The clever hack lets you find some of the cheap deals available to any holiday destination in the world, including hotspots such as Spain, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, France and the USA.
Posting on her travel TikTok account Around the Atlas, the budget-savvy blogger asked:"Did I just unlock a cheat code or did everyone know about this??" She then goes on to demonstrate how she found a number of deals including return flights to New York City from £336, departing from London. She begins by typing 'Google Flights' into the search bar and then clicking on the main result, and accepting the cookies and T&Cs.

She then sets 'London' as her departure point, and chooses the 'Anywhere' option, selecting a single passenger although you can of course add however many people are travelling in your group. She suggests that when it comes to choosing dates it's "best to leave it blank", and then clicks the 'Explore' button.
A host of cheap flights appear, prompting her to ask if others realise how 'insane this is'. She explains over the footage: "Does anyone else know about this? Because I feel like the world is gatekeeping how insane this is. So, literally, it gives you flight prices for ridiculous prices – £26 return flight to Barcelona. If we go over here we see £34 flights to Vienna, £54 to Budapest. Even if you wanted to go long-haul, just go over to the US. £336 to fly to New York! And if you go onto it, it'll give you the dates so this is for the 16th Feb to the 25th, so like a week. £336 round-trip. Guys, I'm not joking – it gives you it for the whole world. £507 to Singapore! Like, guys."

When the Daily Star team gave it a go ourselves, we were impressed with the bargains that we also found. We based our search on departures from London, Manchester and Birmingham and found a number of cheap flights including Tenerife from £46, New York from £296, Sydney from £619, Vancouver from £537, Singapore from £548 and Los Angeles from £386. These were all based on a return trip too.
However, it's worth noting that the hack only works if you're looking to travel within the next six months, so we couldn't take a look at next year's peak summer holidays season for families. We did have a look for February half term dates but the deals tended to be long-haul which isn't always ideal for a week's half term break. Still, overall we were impressed at how quick and easy it was to find the deals.
