We Brits love a sunny holiday to Spain to lap up the sea, cocktails and siestas.
And Benidorm is one of the most popular resorts for a trip thanks to its cheap prices – after all, who would say no to an 88p pint or £2 Full English?
But, some British nationals love the seaside town so much that they ditch the UK for Spain for good.

Mum-of-five Michelle Baker is one such woman who has been living in Benidorm for 40 years. Originally from Solihull in the Midlands she even runs a Benidorm appreciation page on Facebook.
Michelle has explained why she prefers to Spanish town to her English home – and it’s apparently down to better weather, improved healthcare and wild parties.
The Benidorm local even claims that Benidorm is more like Miami than "Blackpool in the Sun".
And according to her, the parties are exceptional.
One week – the annual fiesta – she claims is better than anything England has to offer.
In the second week of November around 50,000 people gather for fireworks, parades, marching bands and fancy dress costumes.
She told The Su : "It’s a bit like Mardi Gras and there’s never any trouble."
Plus, she noted that there are around 800 bars in Benidorm and many offer great entertainment.
She said that those who can’t compete on shows offer incredibly cheap drinks instead.
Michelle told Daily Star : "If you want the hurdy-gurdy like my daughter, she is 21, she was out last night and she said the ambiance was number one.
"She said there was little trouble and a really great atmosphere. Go to the other side of Benidorm, I call it the Miami of Benidorm."
But, it’s not just leisure that she says is better over on mainland Europe. Michelle claims that the country’s national health service is better too.
She explained: "The typical wage is around €1,100 a month, which is quite low, but your bosses pay another 50% on top toward your healthcare.
"If I need a doctor because one of the kids is poorly, I can walk into the emergency room and be seen in 20 minutes. If it’s not urgent we can get an appointment the next day."
Finally, it’s the weather that has her feeling like she’s in paradise.
Michelle noted: "It goes without saying but the weather is incredible. We enjoy 320 days of sunshine every year."
The Benidorm fan added: "I love everything about Benidorm because depending on your mood you can find it here."
The mum isn’t the only one to have found a new home in Benidorm.
Stag do organiser Frank also made the move a number of years ago – and has no plan to move back to the UK.
He told Daily Star: "Every day is strange. But, it’s one of those sort of places that people are happy and they’re enjoying themselves. You’ve got the sun, the climate and I was drawn to being around people that are happy."
