While a gorgeous university city took the number spot in the UK, a seaside city grabbed second place on the list. 

Brighton is one of the UK’s most walkable cities with holidaymakers needing to walk for just half an hour to reach its most popular attractions.

One of Brighton’s top attractions is North Laine, a bohemian hub of vintage clothes shops, jewellery boutiques and independent restaurants.

Brighton’s quirky Royal Pavilion was built as a seaside retreat for King George IV. During World War I it was repurposed as a military hospital. 

It’s even licensed as a venue for weddings and hosted one of the UK’s first same-sex marriages in 2014.
