A tiny country in Europe is one of the world’s safest countries

Safety is a primary consideration for the majority of British tourists. A new study from the team at International SOS has found the world’s safest countries.

While Iceland topped the list again, another lesser-known country took second place on the ranking.

Luxembourg, one of Europe’s richest countries, was named the second safest holiday destination in the world.

The country’s low crime rate, stability and low medical risks meant it earned a place on the podium.

Despite being one of Europe’s smallest countries, Luxembourg is packed with activities for tourists.

The city’s top attraction is Vianden Castle which is one of Europe’s largest fortified castles. It’s located in the northern part of the country.

A tourist ‘Tindust’ said: “I grew up in Luxembourg and visited this castle when we were kids. I recommend making a day of it and exploring the surrounding walks to get a good view of the castle.”

Another top attraction is La Chemin de La Corniche, one of Luxembourg’s historic neighbourhoods and a fantastic area to explore on foot.

‘Grace H’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Beautiful walk along the balcony of Europe. Gorgeous photo spots all along the way.”

Better yet, public transport is entirely free in Luxembourg so tourists won’t have to spend a penny to see the country’s main attractions.
