easyJet issues travel warning for British tourists

easyJet has issued a travel warning for British tourists as the UK is hit by several days of train strikes.

On its website, the budget carrier said: “Train companies across the UK will be striking on various dates between December 1 and December 9.

“On strike days, train services will be extremely limited. No train services will operate to or from Gatwick Airport on December 6.

“If you need to travel by train, please plan your journey in advance and check Nationalrail.co.uk and Tfl.gov.uk for the latest travel information and updates.

“If you can, please book alternative travel arrangements to and from the airport in advance.”

ASLEF’s train drivers took part in a series of strikes on Saturday, causing disruption in several areas.

A total of 15 train operating companies are expected to be affected by the ASLEF action up until December 8.

This coming week, strikes will be held on December 5, December 6, December 7 and December 8.

Meanwhile the RMT union voted to accept a deal which brought a long-running strike campaign over conditions and pay to an end.

Passengers should check their journey before heading to the airport if they are planning to use trains.

They may need to allow more time for their journey or find an alternative route to reach the airport.
